Welcome to the Fox Ridge Foundation website. For over twenty-five years, the Fox Ridge Foundation has been dedicated to the continued improvement and promotion of Fox Ridge State Park. Our purpose is to provide local individuals and businesses a mechanism to contribute financially to enhance programs and services at the park, as well as encourage community support of the park. In recent years, donations from our contributors have provided part-time summer student interpreters, playground equipment and the interpretive pond outside of the Visitors' Center.

Night Bugs!

Fox Ridge State Park is hosting a special event called Night Bugs! geared toward kids but open to all ages. A couple of professors from Eastern Illinois University set up lights and sheets which they hang up in the forest to attract insects. Then people can catch the insects and bring them back to the pavilion to identify them with the professors’ help. The event will be held from dark until around 10 pm at the White Pines pavilion this year on Saturday, July 23.

This special event is part of the summer interpreter’s weekend presentation dedicated to insects. This weekend presentation is one of many held throughout the weekends of the summer as part of the summer interpreter program. The presentations are located at the park office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Fox Ridge State Park is located on Illinois Route 130 seven miles south of Charleston. More information is available by calling the park at 345-6416.
